Toward the end of our Argentina stay, Flynn did an illustration in his homeschool journal showing his favorite places in Buenos Aires and beyond. He greenlighted our sharing it here, along with some additional thoughts he voiced and I transcribed.
Enjoy!
Glaciar Perito Moreno
It’s very pretty and big, and it’s very entertaining to watch it calve.
Mount Fitz Roy / Cerro Chaltén
It was just…I don’t know how to say it in words. I had a lot of fun hiking up and taking breaks along the way. [At the top] I played in the snow and watched other people do stuff like skate [on the frozen lake]. I was on the ice too.
Planetario Galileo Galilei
I liked watching the movie in Spanish. They showed us the night sky, and I liked that because I felt like I was in space.
Puente de la Mujer
I liked the big hanging wires.
Musel
The people were very welcoming and every time we went there we’d order the same chicken milanesa paired up with a zero-sugar 7-Up. I highly recommend it: ten out of ten.
Museo de los Niños
This was very fun. It was crowded with kids and there was so much to do. My favorite part was the McDonald’s station where you could make your own burgers.
Produce stand near our apartment
The small verdulería close to the Kohli House with many food options that were cheap—from apples, bananas, pears…to watermelon, pineapple, ginger, and onion. The perfect place.
Playground up the street
I liked hearing the Spanish and even talked to a kid in Spanish. Then we bought popsicles and talked to each other some more.
Dog groomer
I loved watching them give the cute puppies a trim. We stood outside and laughed about it. Couldn’t believe what we were seeing.
Hábito Café
It was a very nice, cute cafe with lots of seating. Every time we went there we would get a fruit bowl, and each time the fruit was different. I recommend you get the fruit bowl.
NYC ➡️ Buenos Aires flight
And while not an Argentina delight per se, Flynn gave the inflight experience high marks.
You can draw, read, play video games, eat, watch movies and shows, play with toys…
In closing, says the young traveler:
I hope you find Argentina fun!
Isn’t the world and the people in it such a marvel?? Thanks for sharing some of the highlights with us. It is almost like being there with you. Frank Nelson
Love, love, love Flynn’s drawings and commentary!
Flynn- How wonderful to experience some of your family’s grand adventure through your eyes and heart! I wonder what you’ll have to say about this year of travel in 1, 5, 10 years from now. What a life-changing gift that I imagine will keep unfolding long after your return to the U.S.
Delightful descriptions Flynn. You make everything come alive. That’s a gift to all.
Hey Flynn, thanks for taking the time to share all the great places you have been to. It makes me want to get up and go!!
